Month: September 2016
I’m writing this today while both of us have a pyjama day. It seems that both of us have come down with a cold (*sadface*), so double the tissues all round this week. Because of this, I was expecting to be up all night with the Bubs crying (rightly so), but luckily he managed to sleep through after having some saline spray at 10 o’clock. In spite of being under the weather, he’s still super active and even managed to roll onto his tummy in the crib last evening after Daddy got him bathed for bed. Thank goodness for his Nana chair (a fisher price rocking chair from my Mum); no matter how miserable things get, the Nana chair never fails to get things back to calm and smiley again. On the upside, just as I’m finishing writing this the Little Man has done his first back-to-front-to-back roll and repeated it a few times! Eeeeep, need to keep an eye on him now before he tries to leg it!
It’s been over 4 months since little mister has arrived (somehow!). This leads me to something I’ve been dreading, something that I’ve been putting off for a few months now… the post-pregnancy diet. I’ve never been one to stick to a diet; the initial enthusiasm quickly wanes once my wine and chocolate have been taken away and end in a mega-binge that usually leaves me bigger and less athletic than before. Past exercise regimes have suffered a similar fate, with couch to 5k ending after 4 weeks because “it looked a bit rainy out”, badminton ending as “we’d be better off investing in equipment to work out from home” and the exercise bike at home ending as it had too many coats hanging off it. My weight has always yo-yo’d, but in recent years has been much harder to lose. Having hit my pre-pregnancy weight months ago to then gain even more weight since, I felt compelled to make the change. This time I have a very good incentive to get fitter (my little mister, and my future wedding), and maternity leave is a great time to form these new habits, away from the allure of office cakes and vending machines.
Time has slipped away at a crazy pace this week, and I’ve not been able to update as quickly as I’d of liked! We have been on holiday to my home-land (sunny sunny Kernow), and the week before has all been rather hectic. Some of this chaos came from packing. Firstly, packing whilst you’re crippled up with hay fever sucks! Sneezing between every other item going into a bag makes it really hard to keep track of what’s going down. Secondly, packing whilst entertaining a little one is really hard work. Playing is waayyyyyyy more fun than packing, And thirdly, little people need so much stuff! We’re only off for a week but it looks like we’ve left home…
